Just last week, Tukur had locked his gate against the committee members when they paid a working visit to his Wuse 11 Abuja home. To give the impression that all was well within the party, Gana had last Friday announced August 24,2013 and August 31, 2013 as dates for the south west zonal congress and national convention, respectively at a press briefing where he also dispelled insinuations that there was a rift with Tukur.
Notwithstanding the denial of a rift by Gana, the Tukur led National Working Committee after an emergency meeting today countered the committee saying it has decided to put the south-west zonal congress and the national convention of the party on hold, even as it described all the activities of the Gana panel as an embodiment of ”anomalies and breaches of the constitution of the PDP”
It added that it suspended “all activities relating to the Special South West Zonal Congresses and the Special National Convention pending the regularization of the anomalies and breaches so as to forestall a repeat of the events that affected the Party Convention in 2012. Consequently the dates recently announced by the Planning Committee are in the circumstances untenable.”
Spokesman of the party, Caesar Okeke who announced this in a statement also disclosed the party’s intention to intervene in the crisis rocking the Rivers and Anambra states chapters of the party.
