In the wake of George Zimmerman’s acquittal for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, thousands of protesters have held marches, rallies and prayer vigils across the United States.
Passionate protesters have held demonstrations large and small everywhere from New York City to Miami and Chicago to Washington, D.C. Although most of the rallies have remained peaceful, a few have turned violent in places like Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Many activists are calling for authorities to file federal civil rights charges against Zimmerman, and others simply want to show public support for Martin’s family.
