Four Northern Govs In Closed Door Meeting With Ex-President Shagari

2015: Four Northern Govs In Closed Door Meeting With Ex-President Shagari In Sokoto
Four of the five Northern governors who recently embarked on consultations with eminent leaders of the country over the tension and insecurity being generated by the struggle for presidential power shift in 2015, today held a closed door meeting with former President Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari at his Sama road residence, in Sokoto, Sokoto state. With the exception of Niger state governor, Babangida Aliyu who could not make the trip, others at the meeting include host governor, Aliyu Wamakko,
Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano and Sule Lamido of Jigawa.
Though they declined to speak on their mission, but when pressed further at the Sultan Abubakar III international airport, Sokoto, the Jigawa state governor,  Sule Lamido said they were in the state in continuation of their consultations with eminent Nigerian leaders on the complex socio-political and security challenges facing the nation.
“Just as we have visited other states in the recent past, the same thing brought us to Sokoto to fine tune ways and solutions to the country’s multiple problems.
You know Nigeria’s fundamental problem lies on security challenges which we are working round the clock to tackle so that it can be overcome”, he added.
